Randy Jones - Founder

Randy Jones is the original founder of Mile One Eating House located in British Columbia's stunning Pemberton Valley. With one eye on the focus of Mile One Eating House's motto, "we take comfort food seriously", the restaurant team is passionate about showcasing great BC Food & Beverage products.

Randy's culinary career began at the Dubrulle French Culinary School in Vancouver and then on to an apprenticeship with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts to acquire his Red Seal. Randy has worked within kitchens from Tofino's Wild Pacific Coast to Whistler's High Country, the Canadian Rockies to Downtown Vancouver and off into the South Chilcotin!

His passion for the bounty of BC has evolved from these amazing places, with the casual offering of Mile One Eating House reflecting this spirit!

Cindy Yu founder of Mile One Eating House Pemberton Restaurant

Cindy Yu - Founder

Born in Hong Kong but brought up in Vancouver, Cindy began her career in the Food and Beverage industry at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts properties. This relationship lasted over 20 years! First at Hotel Vancouver, which exposed her to the large scale world of banquet events, and later to a fine dining service style in one of the hotel's restaurants, 900West.  The Chateau Whistler Resort was Cindy's next post where she continued her career in an upper scale dining environment in The Wildflower Restaurant and The Grill Room. Cindy and Randy chose to make their home base rooted in Pemberton in 2006, and by 2010 they were working on the Mile One Eating House Project. Cindy has assumed a multi-functional role at Mile One. Her front of house experience influences the day to day service operations, however her ability to multi-task has her supporting the kitchen team as well.  As many business owners know, you just need to get it done! Consequently, Cindy jumps in to do food prep and dishwashing and everything in between. Hospitality comes second nature to her, and combined with Randy's culinary influence, Mile One Eating House is a recipe for success.
